Tatjana Simakova MA APCP IACAT
Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Art Therapist
Welcome to my psychotherapy practice in Ennis! With nearly 12 years of experience in counselling and psychotherapy, I am dedicated to working with children, adolescents, and their parents both in-person and online.
During my tenure as a psychotherapist and clinical assessor at Pieta House, I focused on addressing issues related to child and adolescent self-harm and suicidal ideation. Additionally, my internship at the Blue Box Creative Art Therapies Centre, as well as my work with Youth Clubs and Community centres, granted me extensive experience in working with children and adolescents.
I hold a BA Degree in Counselling Skills and Psychotherapy from the Irish College of Humanities and Applied Science (ICHAS) and a MA Degree in Art Therapy from the Cork Institute of Technology (CIT), Crawford College of Arts and Design. As a fully accredited member, I adhere to the guidelines and Code of Ethics of the Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Ireland (APCP) and the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists (IACAT).
In my practice, I employ a humanistic and integrative approach, drawing from various therapeutic theories. As a result-driven therapist, I incorporate time-tested psychotherapy approaches and the latest findings from neuroscience research. By tailoring my methods to each client’s unique needs, I strive to provide effective and personalised care.
At my practice, I offer a range of services that aim to address the impact of generational traumas, childhood traumas, limiting beliefs, and negative experiences on the parent-child relationship and overall family dynamics. I understand how these deeply ingrained emotional wounds can affect parents’ ability to connect with their children and create a harmonious family life. Through therapy, I provide a safe and supportive space where we can explore the influence of past experiences on present relationships. Together, we will work towards healing and transforming the family system, helping parents develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their children. By identifying and addressing limiting beliefs and negative patterns, we can foster positive change and create a nurturing environment that encourages genuine connection and emotional well-being. My services are designed to empower parents, promote self-awareness, and facilitate personal growth, ultimately leading to a more balanced and thriving family life.
In my practice, I offer various therapeutic modalities, including Art Therapy, Sand and Play Therapy Approaches, Person-Centered Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Meditation. By assessing your needs and preferences, we can determine the most suitable approach for your therapeutic journey.
Regardless of the specific modality employed, my role is to guide and support you as you tap into your own strength and resilience.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me to discuss how I can support you on your path to healing and growth.
Your sincerely,
Tatjana Simakova
